Yummy Lasagna. I do not know who doesn’t like it. I think the best is from my step father Larry but I think I give him a run for his money. I like it with a lot of meat and cheese and yummy goodness sauce. You can use your favorite Marinara sauce, (check out My homemade sauce) or make your own. Making lasagna is a little bit of a process but ooooooooo it is so worth it. It usually takes me about 25-30 minutes to make it and then cooks for about 35-45 minutes. I like to serve this with a great big salad and come Garlic Bread. It also is great with some asparagus(see my asparagus recipe) and then I sprinkle Parmesan on top! Yummm….This is a great dinner for a big family party! I hope you enjoy this as much as we did at Friend dinner.
Here’s what you’ll need….
1 package of lasagna- the bigger box that comes with more then 10- you’ll need 12 and sometimes they break.
1.5 pounds of ground beef- you can also use turkey to make healthier
3 cups of ricotta cheese
2 cups of Italian blend cheese
2 cups of mozzarella cheese
1 can of Italian stewed tomatoes
1-2 bottles of your favorite sauce- I like to use sausage flavor cause it gives it such a delicious taste
1 bunch of parsley
2 large eggs
Fresh mozzarella (optional for top)
S and P to taste
First you want to boil a large pot of water. Add a little salt. You will place your noodles in there and cook until softened. Place on paper towel to dry them when done.
Place your meat in a skillet and cook until browned. Add 1 TBS of garlic salt and 1 1/2 TBS of Italian seasoning. When its cooked I like to add Fresh Parsley into it as well. About 1-2 TBS.
I cut my parsley in my processor or you can cut by hand into tiny pieces.
Next you will take 3 cups of Ricotta cheese and place in your mixer. Add 1/2 cup of fresh Parsley. Add in 1 cup of your Italian blend cheese. Add in Salt and pepper to taste. Last add in your 2 eggs one by one. Mix until creamy
Now you will take your canned tomatoes and blend them in your food processor. Add it to the meat. Next add 1-2 cans of sauce. This depends on how much sauce you like it.
Take your meat and sauce mixture and place a small amount on the bottom of your large glass pan. Take 4 of your lasagna noodles and overlap them a little placing them over the mixture.
Now Place your cheese mixture on top. About 1/2. I like to sprinkle the remaining Italian blend on top of the ricotta mixture. Just a little bit. you can also use a little mozzarella too if you would like. The more cheese the better I always say.
Then add another layer of your meat sauce mixture.
Now the noodles again…(4)
NOW… AGAIN—The cheese mixture (other half), the sauce meat mixture, the noodles. Then You should have 3 layers of noodles done by now. Add on top of the last noodle layer, more meat sauce.
Now add your mozzarella cheese on top and some more fresh parsley to the top of the mixture. This should be on top of your last sauce mixture.
Place in the oven for 35-45 minutes at 375 degrees or until the edges are boiling and then cheese on top has melted completely. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
